Batman ’66 Meets The Green Hornet #3
DC Comics/Dynamite (October, 2014)
“An Unlikely Pair” WRITERS: Kevin Smith & Ralph Garman ARTIST: Ty Templeton COLORIST: Tony Avina COVER ART: Alex Ross LETTERER: Wes Abbott ASSISTANT EDITOR: Aniz Ansari EDITOR: Jim Chadwick
The Joker and Gumm take Robin and Kato prisoner, forcing them to fight to the death. Batman and the Green Hornet are forced to work together to rescue their teammates. But when that’s over it’s back to their usual practice for the two duos.
What they got right: Now this is what I like to see more of, heroes teaming together, even if Batman doesn’t know the Green Hornet is actually a crime fighter and not a criminal. I’m hoping the series ends with the heroes learning the truth (I’m neutral on identities) about the Green Hornet and his comrade.
What they got wrong: Batman sprays Hornet with the Bat-Sleep right in the face after complaining about the Hornet Gas’s bad aftertaste. West’s Batman shouldn’t be getting revenge like that. Feels wrong.
Recommendation: Still, it’s a minor complaint and a good comic. I continue to support it.
