Fury Of Firestorm #35

Firestorm just has never-ending girl trouble in either identity.

Fury Of Firestorm #35

DC Comics (May, 1985)

“Winter Frost”
WRITER: Gerry Conway
PENCILER: Rafael Kayanan
INKER: Alan Kupperberg
COLORIST: Nansi Hoolahan
LETTERER: Ben Oda

Firestorm manages to power out of the new Crystal Frost’s trap, but she gets away. Meanwhile, Plastique is given a chemical from her supporters that allows her to create explosions on her own. Ronnie’s dad goes on a date with the woman looking to sue Firestorm. Martin is considering taking a teaching job (but someone who looks like a werepanther or something isn’t happy about it) but his discussion with Ronnie is interrupted as Killer Frost 2 heads to the Hudson Plant to feed on the heat, but when Firestorm arrives he’s attacked by Plastique.

What they got right: Conway is setting up a new direction for Firestorm and it’s a nice setup. Giving Plastique superpowers should be interesting.

What they got wrong: I’m still not sold on the new Killer Frost.

Recommendation: A good balance of character and action. I still recommend the series.
