Wait, that was the redesign? A few more bits of scale-mail in between? Blimey. She might be able to take a few more stabs to the midriff, maybe, but it’s like they replaced the cheesy armoured bikini with a cheesy armoured swimsuit.

If you go back to my article back when the changes happened (https://bwspotlight.com/2015/12/08/gail-simones-dark-ages-costume-design/), which also included Vampirella and Dejah Thoris, Gail Simone doesn’t have a problem with cheesecake, which let’s be honest, that’s what the old look was for, but she wanted to update the look to not scare off potential female readers, sexy but not sexual…or something.. And it’s still more practical within the world she lived in and her fighting style. I think it’s a matter of taste though, and I’m guessing this means it wasn’t taking with the fans.

In issue six, she gets stabbed in the back and gut but one of the villains in the fight at the climax. That new armor didn’t pay off.
