I wonder if a trend is starting attempting to make a modern version of The Rocketeer? First Disney Junior announced a series where a little girl (not even a teen or adult woman) inherits the legacy of the jetpack (I discussed that in this post) and now IDW wants to do something similar with a modern day story where someone finds the Rocketeer gear in modern day and people are after it like when Cliff Secord first found it. It’s nice that they’re at least respecting the original version by making it the history rather than replacing it outright and IDW, who has published Rocketeer comics in the past, at least has a better…”claim” isn’t the right word…to doing a modern Rocketeer than the first ever Rocketeer cartoon. It might be interesting if it isn’t just “the first story but in modern day”.
