Grover’s friends are having problems today. Big Bird is trying to figure out how to build his new bookshelf while the Count wants to count the leaves on top of a high tree. Elmo is trying to figure out what ice cream goes best with cookies while Cookie Monster is trying to remember Telly’s favorite song. Sherlock Hemlock wants to know who ate his sardine sandwich while Oscar wants to create a scavenger hunt for Slimey’s birthday. Seeing the two-headed monster work together to make a sandwich, Grover gets the idea to pair up friends who can help each other solve their problems and pitches in himself. Thus everybody is happy.
This gets a bit of a graded curve since we’re talking about a comic for little kids. The dialog was throwing me off because it sounds stilted compared to how I remember these characters talking, the “talking to children” voice. On the other hand, this is a written story so maybe it’s better for reading comprehension. The art is nice though characters are kind of stiff (like I’m one to talk). It’s nice to see bright colors again.
It’s a short review but the comic is good for the age group, and I’m always happy to see my favorite Sesame Street Muppet take center stage. Adults aren’t going to get into it, but it’s good for kids.
