Friday Night Fights: And He Didn’t Throw A Punch

I like to find fights that aren’t the usual fists-and-lasers, and I have on tonight. I know I’ve been using the Phantom a lot but these comics tend to have the best fights of the week’s reviews, so we’re going there again.

This time the bad guys are child kidnappers looking to force kids into the army cult, based on real-life events, so this fight has a bit more to it. I hate the thought of people hurting and brainwashing children. However the Phantom wins this fight without throwing a single punch. Just being awesome…and having a few pygmies behind you doesn’t hurt, either.

“Roundhouse” round 10

Because I missed round 9.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Daphne’s Voice Actor Passes

Daphne Blake

Daphne Blake (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Heather North, who portrayed Daphne Blake, the danger-prone (and later) heiress with a sharp mind, in numerous iterations of Scooby-Doo passed away at 71. North had numerous acting roles both animated and live-action, but it speaks to the power of animation that the role she’s best known for didn’t even look like her. Condolences to her family and loved ones, and thanks for keeping the beloved character going. Daphne showed that, although she might be clumsy at times she was also smart enough to solve any problem or had friends she could rely on when she needed help, all while still being a “girly-girl”. Anyone can be awesome!

Plus I’m a sucker for a cute redhead. I looked into North’s IMDB page (the link on her name) and outside of a guest-appearance in an episode of The Monkees this is the only character I would know her for.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Watchmen – The TV Series

Were you as unhappy with Zac Snyder’s Watchmen as I was with his Superman? Well, rejoice because HBO is piloting a TV series adaptation of the classic miniseries everyone forgets wasn’t just a graphic novel. And the director loves Alan Moore’s superheroes for the same reason I don’t! I’m sure that’s good news for somebody. I guess.
