Heather North, who portrayed Daphne Blake, the danger-prone (and later) heiress with a sharp mind, in numerous iterations of Scooby-Doo passed away at 71. North had numerous acting roles both animated and live-action, but it speaks to the power of animation that the role she’s best known for didn’t even look like her. Condolences to her family and loved ones, and thanks for keeping the beloved character going. Daphne showed that, although she might be clumsy at times she was also smart enough to solve any problem or had friends she could rely on when she needed help, all while still being a “girly-girl”. Anyone can be awesome!
Plus I’m a sucker for a cute redhead. I looked into North’s IMDB page (the link on her name) and outside of a guest-appearance in an episode of The Monkees this is the only character I would know her for.
She also did voice work on Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels (kind of like Charlie’s Angels). That was a good cartoon from my childhood. And obviously, I have heard Heather North’s voice so many times on the various Scooby Doo cartoons. Rest in peace, Heather North. You contributed in many positive ways to life on Earth. And Tronix….if you’re a sucker for redheads, you should visit Ireland and Scotland someday. Those two nations have the highest percentages of redheads. Oh, that reminds me….on one Scooby Doo episode, the crew was visiting Daphne’s uncle’s castle in Scotland.
