BW’s Morning Article Link Wonder Woman Vs. Sarah Connor

List of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicle...

In an interview with The Guardian about an upcoming re-release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day with a 3D make over (why?), director James Cameron discussed strong female women in action movies, like Sarah Connor, including a rather negative view of the recent Wonder Woman movie as a “step backwards” because Diana is physically attractive and not driven insane with the knowledge the human race is about to wipe itself out with killer robots. (Wow, that was a long sentence.) Wonder Woman‘s director, Patty Jenkins, who happens to BE a woman by the way, heard about that and not surprisingly took offense. And I’m on Jenkins side. A strong female character doesn’t have to be some troubled badass, or practically a man, to be an actual strong female character. If anything we could use more variety in the male action hero too. Variety is the spice of life you know.

Jake & Leon #330: Operation OverHard Drive

Or rich enough to adopt.

I didn’t come up with a better title until the comic was already done. 😦 And if longtime readers are wondering why I took so long to get here and why I didn’t do one for Power Rangers Mystic Force, it took this long to come up with a good Operation Overdrive joke (and you can debate if this one works, but I got to draw character I usually don’t and I’m rather proud of Alpha 5 and Circuit thank you very much) and I just never got into Mystic Force so I wouldn’t be able to come up with anything anyway.

Another Transformer toy review over at The Clutter Reports as I look at Universe Classics Prowl.

To coincide with my usual Marvel comic review on Tuesday I’ll be checking out the newest Disney XD version of Spider-Man and with my Wednesday Voltron review (where we begin volume 2 of the Devil’s Due Voltron comics) a look at the Voltron that we never got and why we didn’t get it although that should be obvious if you’ve been watching the Saturday Night Showcase Voltronathon. Speaking of that, we’ll be looking at the three episodes that opened Voltron: The Third Dimension. And yes, after that we’ll have Nickelodeon’s Voltron Force, but that’s not what I’m ending the Voltronathon with. I think you can guess what’s coming there.

I do have a doctor’s appointment this week and going grocery shopping with my dad, but I’m going to try my best to get this all done on-time and something worth taking your time to read. And in two weeks we’re back to Seduction Of The Innocent. We’re almost done there, and I’ve chosen my next Chapter By Chapter review. It’s a novelization of something I’ve looked at recently…but I’m not saying what just yet. No hints, Sean!

Saturday Night Showcase: Voltron Season 2

After the first two Voltron cartoons, World Events knew they had a hit, at least with the Lion Force. So they put together their own second season, continuing the legend. All the focus was on the Lion Force, with the military outfits from DaiRugger still used as the Galaxy Garrison uniforms, probably the only tie to the Vehicle Team’s home footage until Fleet Of Doom. Luckily, US’s issues with death in kids TV helped them out. In GoLion the bad guys are all dead, as is Sven. (Twice, as his Japanese counterpart dies in episode six while his little brother became essentially Sven’s new actor since Sven just goes to a space hospital but is captured by Zarkon’s forces.) Meanwhile the Drule empire falls apart at the end of the Vehicle Team story, which plays into the new season.

I’m choosing two episodes here, both introducing the last new cast members. First we’ll meet Commander Cossack, who is basically a rash and stupid version of Yurak. Next we’ll be introduced to Merla, intended by Zarkon to marry Lotor to boost the kingdom in light of no longer having access to the resources of the Drule Empire, but that didn’t go well. She will actually be important as we go through the Devil’s Due comics. Then I have a little extra treat for you.

Friday Night Fights: How Dick Grayson Relaxes At The Beach

Most people go to the beach to relax, They get a tan, go swimming, ogle their preferred gender in skimpy swimsuits, maybe get some snacks at the snack bar, the normal stuff. The life of a superhero is never normal, especially when that hero is training to improve their skills. In our case the DCAU version of Dick Grayson, during his transition from Boy Wonder to Nightwing, is learning that sometimes the best way to see a fight is with a blindfold. It’ll make more sense once you see it.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Voicing The Lion King

The Lion King (musical)

Entertainment Weekly made the video auto-playing (I hate that) so we’re going to Screen Crush’s posting, which features more article and a “did you know” video on The Lion King. The important video shows Jeremy Irons, Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Cummings, Cheech Marin, and James Earl Jones voicing dialog and a bit of Irons and Goldberg from the villain song “Be Prepared”. I just wish they had more than a few seconds of each person.

I also heard they’re making a live-action version of The Lion King as part of Disney’s current need to turn all their classic animated movies into live-action ones because apparently they’ve been corrupted by the Live-Action Status Symbol. And yet they can’t even remade their old live-action movies properly. It just raises a lot of questions about Disney’s current mindset. They do realize that it not only all started with a mouse, but a cartoon one, right?
