BW’s Morning Article Link: Time Again For Animaniacs

With so many other cartoon shows of the past getting reboots from Rainbow Brite to Ducktales, are you surprised to hear one more? Making their way out of the 1990s is a rebooted Animaniacs, or at least that’s what Steven Spielberg is planning. It’s not surprising. The original, airing first on Fox before moving to Kids WB (because it was owned by Warner Animation and Warner Brothers seemed to be moving all the popular shows to their channel at the first opportunity–see also Batman), is still a part of geek culture, still having cosplayer dressing at them, still having their jokes retold, and even being used as a teaching tool (specifically Wakko’s states and capitals song). Ducktales has the same cultural popularity but I wonder if they’re going to change the animation and story style like the Disney favorite? And will it be just the Warners (and possibly Pinky and The Brain, the other famous bits) or will Slappy and the hip hippos also come back?

A Further Look At Batman & Harley Quinn

Earlier today I posted a Morning Article Link for a trailer for Batman & Harley Quinn, the latest animated Bat-Movie, as Batman and Nightwing seeks Harley’s help to stop Poison Ivy from destroying humanity. (Kind of like the DCAU version of Ra’s Al Ghul.) Well someone also posted the behind-the-scenes featurette on the movie. I don’t know if this came from a previous DVD or what. The poster doesn’t say. He also posted an end card with Deadpool, which is from the Marvel universe, not DC. Oops.

The film is using the same style as the DCAU Bat-shows, mostly the Fox ones, although it does have the Nightwing costume from Kids WB. However, as you’ll seeing video, this isn’t going to be kid-friendly. It will however have the same tone as the DCAU shows. Considering how dark the more recent DC Bat-films have been, both animated direct-to-video and live-action theatrical, it’s a nice change of pace.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Batman & Harley Quinn Trailer

And the obligatory Harley Quinn picture.

You know all that talk about characters not getting popular like Batman and Superman? Harley Quinn was created for cartoons in the 1990s, transitioned to comics, appeared in the recent Suicide Squad a new animated moviemovie, and now even non-comic fans know who she is. And now she’s teaming up with Batman in that is lighter in tone than the more recent direct-to-video animated Batfilms. I’ll talk more about that tonight when I examine the featurette someone posted for the movie. Memorial Day doesn’t leave me a lot of links in my e-mail box.

Memorial Day Tribute

Every year the United States takes time out in May to spend time with family. Picnics are the norm, but what of those who won’t get to spend time with their family? Those who sacrificed their lives so that we could live in a free country? People are starting to remember that Memorial Day is a day to honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we wouldn’t have to. There have been two major attacks on US soil from foreign powers, plus a third that could have been major but we got lucky. Outside of disputes within our borders all fighting has taken place on other continents. People born in this country died far from home to keep us safe from our enemies.

Every year I go searching for a good tribute video, and there are a lot of tribute videos to choose from. It does my heart good to see Americans are honoring this day while still spending time with loved ones or just remembering the fallen. Here’s the one I chose for this year.

BW’s Morning Article Link: 1st Phase Shifters Review Wrap-Up

I picked up a whole bunch of followers during my review of The 1st Phase Shifters & The Omega Capsule for Chapter By Chapter. So if any of you missed last night’s update (instead of a comic it was a site maintenance report), I did the final wrap-up review of the book overall over at my other website, The Clutter Reports, a site all about my attempts to control and eliminate the clutter I’ve built up over the years and slim down my various collections to something I can enjoy. Here’s the review if you missed it. Odd to be using the Morning Article Link on one of my other sites.
