BW’s Daily Video> Comic Strip Critic Reviews The Mysteries

Catch more from The Comic Strip Critic on YouTube

He’s got a good backlog, and those of you who were around for my Reviewers Unknown days may even remember he followed one of my suggestions. Oh, apparently I never posted that even though I did other postings about The Punchline in the past. So I’ll just link to the episode since this is a daily quickpost and I want to post the video John mentioned in his review about the making of The Mysteries instead.

Jake & Leon #578> Change Of Plans

I think Fizzbin forgot her job in this comic.

I think I figured out why I forgot I was supposed to do this storyline: I don’t know what to do with Shralk once he gets here. Fizzbin pretty much does the job of the outside observer of humanity and I don’t see what bringing in another Francian can offer to the comic, even for a brief visit. I don’t even have a design for him outside of “Fizzbin without the antennae” in mind. So I hope you aren’t too disappointed…the small number of you who read the comic, that is.

Over at The Clutter Reports this week I didn’t have time to do much of anything besides add to the manga for sale section, and I did that after writing the article. So I posted and responded to a video about a woman going over four years of her own decluttering journey. Hopefully, lessons can be learned.

Here at the Spotlight this week more from Batman: Knightfall‘s novelization for Chapter By Chapter and we begin looking into the bios for the Vehicons in season one of Beast Machines in our continuing Beast Machine Hunters series, plus whatever comes to mind for the rest of the week. Have a great one, everybody!

Saturday Night Showcase> Linkara Vs The Entity

I need something quick and easy tonight and this is it.

While Lewis Lovhaug hasn’t had much success as a comic creator he has shown and improved his writing talents through storylines on Atop The Fourth Wall. He’s limited by budget of course and this year story ideas were on hold due to life going on and other projects, but when he does get a story in they’re what he intended, an homage to the good stories he rarely gets a chance to review. At the very least the lore surrounding Linkara and how his life seems to be invaded by the types of evil he reads about in his comics and pushes back against with bad comics show his love for those types of stories whatever the end result may actually be.

Fans seem to like it.

Tonight is a compilation of his fourth story arc, “A Piece Of The World Is Missing. It’s the first appearance of The Entity, a being who has torn apart the multiverse in a mission to become “complete” by absorbing everything. The Entity is an introduction to one of Linkara’s arch-enemies, Lord Vyce, and the concept of the “Outer Gods”, Lovecraftian expressions of obsession as I read them. Frankly, Vyce is or was (not sure if he’s dead now) on his way to joining those ranks. However, this is Linkara’s most dangerous threat and it will become a recurring threat that really affects Linkara in storylines to come. Aired as part of or after his reviews there’s quite a good build-up to the Entity’s reveal. This arc also brings in elements and characters that will be seen in later storylines and gags for future episodes. Enjoy.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> The Blue Beetle #32

“How do all these blue costumed people get in here and punch me?”

The Blue Beetle #32

Fox Features Syndicate (July, 1944)

Well, last issue was a disappointment. Looking over the list of creators in this issue I’m not sure it will be any different. I’m guessing Fox couldn’t get back the old creators and these new ones need breaking in. The writing has gone down and so has the art not only from the first Fox run (which certainly weren’t the best comics I ever read but weren’t this bad) but the mediocre Holyoke run. I’m curious how this character endured long enough for Quality to completely reimagine our friend Dan.

Beast Machine Hunters> The First Season Guide part 3

Last time on Beast Machine Hunters we looked at the first two Maximals, Optimus Primal and Cheetor. The fact that it took so long for just two makes me concerned. If we could do two an installment, great, but we have three more Maximals so this may be a long one.

So let’s just make this a short intro and apologize if it looks terrible on the homepage. Here’s an advertisement for the show to fill out the space.

Wow, is that what you guys had to put up with in Canada? Ours was kind of lame but at least it wasn’t that.

Let’s just get on with it.

BW’s Daily Video> Talking About Creators Instead Of Comics

Yes, I know I did a whole week of just Comics By Perch last week but this is a real good and recent commentary and I didn’t want to put it in the backlog.
