The Future Of DC Comics And Others In Warner Bros Discovery

We’re getting some idea as to how Warner Bros Discovery is going to function after Discovery Networks purchase of WarnerMedia from ATT after they had it for the time it takes to make a hamburger. The only thing I know for certain is that DC Entertainment is being set up more like Marvel Studios, as their own entity within the larger company…and even that I could be wrong on. I remember when WarnerMedia was first formed the idea of everything under one function rather than the various groups doing their own thing like they did under AOL Time Warner was a point of contention for some of the acquired brands. So putting the various AOL Time WarnerMedia groups into their own…sub-units I guess will allow each group to retain what makes them unique and help the parent company overall. We saw earlier today that EA has failed to realize that and killed popular video game publishers and titles because of it.

This is kind of all I know however. There are some serious questions I have that aren’t being addressed because the entertainment news sources are part of the media snobbery and aren’t even thinking about it. I on the other hand have questioned I’d like to see addressed and it’s rather important to know going forward.

BW’s Daily Videos: The Problem With EA

Frankly these two videos in my filler/quickpost list should go together. First, the full story from Company Man.

Then there’s this story from Gury Larry. Some swearing does take place, plus whatever’s in the video game footage he chooses.

Why I No Longer Believe Bruce Wayne Is The Mask

It’s been the running line on the internet for quite a long time now, that Bruce Wayne died the same night as his parents, that the boy who would be Bruce had no name until as an adult a bat flew into his study and inspired a new name…Batman! Bruce Wayne is just a disguise, a mask Batman wears to fund his war on crime. There is no true Bruce Wayne. Even the DCAU made this clear.

I’ve heard this theory for so long that not only is it treated as fact by comic fans and Bat-Fans specifically but even I thought it was true, that Batman is the real persona and Bruce the fake. And yet something was nagging me about this theory that I wasn’t connecting with until last year when I came across that WhatCulture Comics video I posted last week about 10 Stupid Arguments About Batman That Don’t Make Sense. Finally my doubts had been given voice and I started rethinking that position. Later last week I was listening to the Literature Devil‘s morning podcast that he doesn’t keep archived and he and his guests were making the same claim there. Not wanting to respond to the podcast on YouTube’s limited text limit…especially since I was using an unconnected cellphone I use as a “mini-tablet” by my bed and typing on a virtual keyboard that covers half a chocolate bar in size is a royal pain…I thought I’d use the power of my site to go over why I don’t really buy this notion that Bruce Wayne is the mask, even if that is the name of his alternate mask. Bruce Wayne the persona is in a way a mask maybe, but if that’s the case then so is Batman.

Chapter By Chapter> Robotech: Before The Invid Storm chapter 9

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

In the last chapter of Robotech: We got caught up with events in the Local Group up to Colonel Wolff’s arrival. Then we got political grandstanding as a senator decided now is a good time to wave his beam saber around (wait, wrong mecha war series) and take control of Wolff’s ship away from the Army Of The Southern Cross, who wants to use the vessel on a mission Dana still hasn’t told anybody the Zentraedi insist is a waste of time. Now instead of coming together to prepare for the Invid it looks like what remains of the structure of civilization in the shadow Robotechnology and its Protoculture power source is about to fall apart. Already I’m beginning to understand why the Invid won.

We already know that there will be a number of factions involved. Apparently the government will be fighting among themselves between the senators and the military. We also have the Shimada Family who think they can maintain their power base by making friendly with the Invid, a plan that might have worked with the previous two groups except Zor forced the hands of the humans in the first war and retcons have tried to turn a fool into a power monger xenophobe that led to the second. Meanwhile we have the Starchildren, who so far have only been mentioned in passing, and you can bet Dana is going to pull some shenanigans of her own with the goal of getting the Tirolians back home. Frankly I’m only interested in this story because of the characters involved. Usually this really isn’t my kind of tale. Still, we’re here so let’s find out where it’s headed.
