Here we are, folks, the comic that this whole arc was created for. And if you don’t think he’d do it, I remind you of this article from early September. And with that, here’s what little news I picked up on this week.
comics
- Just as a note, unless something big comes up we won’t have a comics listing next week. I’m long overdue for going over what happened at New York Comic-Con (aka the Comic-Con that’s actually about comics) so I’ll be doing that all next week (well, the four “free days”) here at the Spotlight.
- The next webcomic superhero crossover has begun. Everybody check out Crossoverkill. I would have done another “Ringo” cameo comic, but with the Marvel War going on I couldn’t fit it in. Note that they don’t have an RSS Feed in place, so you’re just going to have to keep going there to see when they update.
- Video game hero Mega Man returns to comics, thanks to Archie. They will be adapting the games, so maybe we’ll finally have the Mega Man comic I’ve been wanting. And don’t worry, haters, they aren’t using sprites. Although I could get behind that idea. 😀
- Since I won’t be able to write the article next week: Hey look, kids! Dick is talking sense to Superman! Too bad Superman is being…nah, too easy.
- Editor Chris Conroy isn’t giving me a lot of hope in the Batman Beyond ongoing, and neither is the January Batman solicit.
television/movies
- Three new Squaddies are coming to the Super Hero Squad Show, and one of them is voiced by Adam West!
- the 1990’s version of The Incredible Hulk has made its way to Marvel.com. This is the one from UPN, and the first season was great. The second season…didn’t suck but wasn’t nearly as good.
- The Iron Man anime will soon be airing on the G4 network, but how is it doing in Japan?
- Speaking of the Movieverse Iron Man, a panel at Caltech looked at the science of the movie, and what parts of it are actually possible.
- A DC Super Friends cartoon just popped up online. Now how do we get this on TV?
- The Beaver’s mom will be speaking jive in heaven. Barbara Billingsley passed away.
- Do we need a Napoleon Dynamite animated series? Really? Or a new live-action Hulk TV series that I’m betting will be more like the old TV show than the comics? Or a third Men in Black movie when the second was so awful?
- A new Muppets movie is on the way.
- And here’s something that HAS been asked for: The Hobbit is finally greenlit.
- The date for Season 2 of V is released.
- More info on Legends of the Super Heroes.
- Five minutes from the upcoming Megamind movie.
video games
- Channel Awesome, the group behind That Guy With The Glasses, has announced that their “Blistered Thumbs” area will be moved to its own website, as well as what shows will be available on the site.
in other news
- I found this interesting mostly because it’s local news with national implications. Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon, who is running for Chris Dodd’s Senate seat against Captain Lawsuit state attorney-general Richard Blumenthal, defends her husband’s company by saying “gee, Dems, you like us just fine when you appeared on our show in 2008“.
- The Clutter Reports: As I prepare to dig deep into the action figures, I thought I’d show you my standard bearer, Hyoga from Knights of the Zodiac. It’s the best action figure adult me owns.
- This Week’s Cracked: Feel free to call me out if you catch me accidentally using one of the 6 Subtle Ways The News Media Disguises Bull$%#$ As Fact, because even though I admit to being biased on this site, I don’t want to be a spin doctor. Unless it’s these guys.
For the record, if the ISB’s Chris Sims went from text reviewer to video reviewer, this would totally be his theme song. 🙂
