This is the team-up we’re used to, G.I. Joe & the Transformers. And of course there was a crossover when the first Transformers movie with the Avengers. You know, the one with the worst Wolverine picture ever.

Yeah, that’s the one. Anyway, I’m more of a DC fan and while I couldn’t see Transformers under DC’s wing when they were trying to get it (around the time DC started going downhill, as I recall), an out-of-continuity Transformers/Justice League team-up story sounds cool. Apparently IDW publisher Chris Ryall and illustrator Phil Jimenez had such a pitch in mind and while the details haven’t been leaked, some images have been.

I’m not sure what Megatron is doing with Superman’s cape, unless this is the origin of Super Megatron. I am curious about how Optimus would get a Green Lantern ring, though. And it’s not just here. It’s also in the second piece.

See, Optimus flying with the Green Lantern corp. (I wonder if this pitch was before the “emotions” stuff?) The Flash is running from Insecticons, while there are images of a Batplane (why not the Batmobile?) and an Invisible Jet Transformer, kind of like the Transformers Crossovers line. I’m not sure who Aquaman is fighting, but that’s obviously Piranacon, the merged form of the Seacons. It could be the closeup but the bot in the second “panel” doesn’t ring a bell with me.
Yes, it’s some good artwork but I want to hear about the story. The pitch was made but thanks to the New 52 (something else they’ve ruined) it was cast aside and the fact that these are here shows that they’ve given up on it. So someone tell us what could have been, please? I’d really like to know.

The Transformer that Aquaman is punching is the Decepticon Pretender known as Submarauder. 🙂

It was hard to tell in that shot, but that could be his Pretender shell, I guess I wasn’t expecting the Pretenders to show up, considering their treatment in the IDWverse.
