The last time we saw comics Blaster I think I mentioned how different he was from the cartoon version. So since I really don’t have a segue there, let’s set up the fight. Straxus is the currently ruling Decepticon and the Cons have activated a space bridge to Earth, which in this story is an actual bridge, more on that in tomorrow’s “Yesterday’s Comic” posting. It is here, spanning interdimensional space, that tonight’s fight takes place.

“Assassin” round 2

The Battlefield: The Transformers #18 (Marvel Comics; July, 1986) “The Bridge to Nowhere!”

The Promoters: Bob Budiansky (writer), Don Perlin (penciler), Williams & Colletta (inkers), Janice Chiang (letterer), and Nel Yomtov (colorist)

Straxus and Blaster first met in the previous issue, but Straxus just sentenced him to the smelting pool. So this isn’t so much a rematch as a final confrontation.

Don't worry folks. Blaster still has a le...yeah, I'm not finishing that.

Lucky for our hero, an early spy mission alerted him to a weakness in the Space Bridge, so he may be able to stop Straxus yet.

He's certainly been everywhere now. Oregon, Kentucky, Nebulos, Vulcan......
