Superman & Bugs Bunny #3
DC Comics (September, 2000)
“The Duck Knight Weturns!” WRITER: Mark Evanier LAYOUTS: Joe Staton FINISHERS: Tom Palmer & Mike DeCarlo COLORIST: Trish Mulvihill SEPARATIONS: Digital Chameleon LETTERER: Phil Felix EDITOR: Joey CavalieriMxyzptlk and Do-Do’s fighting leads to Superman getting his powers back in time to rescue Bugs and Elmer but the Do-Do had already switched Batman and Daffy Duck. Then the Justice League and Looney Tunes come together and realize Mzyzptlk’s hand in what’s going on but first decide to team together to stop Toyman’s killer toys. And the Do-Do has his own plan…to merge the DC and Looney Tune universes forever!
What they got right: At least we’re finally getting somewhere. I mean, the gags have been fun and all but there had to be more to the story than that. And it has the makings of a good finish.
What they got wrong: Green Arrow (currently Connor, who grew up isolated and probably never saw a Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies cartoon, gets handed Michigan J. Frog. Obvious joke is both obvious and annoying. Send him back to promoting television stations because I never liked that cartoon.
Recommendation: Next week is the final issue and hopefully I can then recommend the whole series. By itself the issue’s okay but better as part of the whole.
