Battlestar Galactica #1 (Marvel)

Comics adapting televisions shows is nothing new. Two of the pioneers of this were Dell (not to be confused with the computer manufacturer) and Gold Key, both extinct but playing a major role in comic history. Previews World will make you jealous seeing some of the shows you don’t get to see adapted into comics. I know I want those Hanna-Barbera superheros and Frankenstein Jr. comics. How many of you even remember some of these shows through syndicated reruns much less when they aired?

Gold Key, Dell, Charlton, and even Marvel made lots of good comic books based on Hanna Barbera animated shows: Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch, Scooby Doo, Laff A Lympics, Funky Phantom, Hong Kong Phooey, Jetsons, Roman Holidays, Herculoids, Bird Man, etc. I used to get those back issues real cheap from if I remember right what was called the “3 dollar for a box” at a Torrington comic book store in the 1980s and 1990s. A hole was punched in the corners of those comics so that even though they were from the 60s and 70s, they sold for 3 for a dollar! Good bargain. Sadly, I no longer have any of those classics.
