BW’s Daily Article Link> Strong Women In Science Fiction

Today’s writers so badly want to be first that they’ll ignore the past to pull it off. One of those are “we finally have a strong woman in sci-fi and you don’t like it”. It’s more like “we have a woman acting like a man in sci-fi because we can’t write strong women” because sci-fi already has a rich history of strong women in leading and supporting roles in the story, both hero and villain. Of course novelist Caroline Furlong sticks to novels in her list (a couple of which have been made into movies or comics, or ignored by the new owners) of sci-fi’s strong heroines. Additionally she also makes a short defense of adventure sci-fi as the elitists have pushed the hard sci-fi back into the spotlight. Although can you call it hard sci-fi when the science makes less sense than the intentionally made-up variety sometimes?
