Animation and art style look amazing, but I don’t know enough about how the adaptation’s direction to make a full article just yet. While you’re waiting, and speaking of adaptations, check out the Chapter By Chapter review of the Knightfall novelization.

For what it’s worth, I think WBA totally nailed the look of Kelley Jones’ Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and Azrael. I tend to worry about the quality of these multi-part adaptations. “Dark Knight Returns” was uniformly good, I revisit it every two years or so. “The Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen” suffered from being part of an ongoing universe and cutting out a lot of the context surrounding the original event. (We barely saw this Superman, so his death felt weirdly inconsequential; ditto for the four imposter Supes, which hurt me even more since following their first steps was one of the big selling points of the comics’ fallout.) I haven’t seen the “Crisis” trilogy yet, but reports of its shocking lack of consistency don’t sound too encouraging. My early prediction for “KnightFall” based on the original comics: Part One covering “KnightFall” will be the strongest part creatively with its focus on Bruce slowly unraveling throughout the night, then Bane burying him; Part 2 “KnightQuest” will be somewhat worse as Azrael Bats going nuts/Bruce’s side quest/the Family trying to cope felt a bit pointless, the whole time I just wanted Bruce to come back; Part 3 “KnightsEnd” will still be kinda bad, but the ending with Bruce taking Azrael to task, the armor being shed during that crawl through the Cave, and Bruce’s “you failed this city” speech, will be so worth it!
