While my focus is on making comics, there are times my storytelling instincts have gone into straight text. For this site I have a few questionable fanfics from my old Transformers fansite, but most of the storytelling here as been in the form of going over how I would write certain franchise. Never an official series outside of currently the “My Transformers Universe/How I’d write Transformer lore” series, I still thought I would collect links to them here. This site is about examining the art of storytelling to make myself a better storyteller, and this is still me telling stories.

Transformers Fanfic

From my defunct Transformers fansite The Transformation Zone comes some of my early Transformers fanfic.

  • Pokémon Wars: Transformers> Not one of my best stories. This mash-up of the Pokémon anime and Beast Wars was just done to be silly.
  • Transformers: Vortex> Reworking an old “failed pilot” for what I was planning to call “Fanfic: The Series” on my old site and the alt.toys.transformers newgroup, a bunch of Transformers fanfics that never got past this story. A squad of Autobots find themselves in a fantasy-like world where a group of Decepticons have already arrived and been corrupted by their use of a magical power source.
  • What If He-Man And She-Ra BOTH Grew Up On Eternia?> More like an article than a story, but I theorize what would have happened if Adora hadn’t been taken from the planet by Hordak and ended up fighting with Adam to protect Castle Grayskull.

Tronix’s Ideas For IDW Godzilla

When IDW first got the Godzilla license I did a three-part article series going over how I’d do my own Godzilla series if they hired me. SPOILER: They didn’t hire me.

  • What I Want To See“> An overview of the monsters, both guardian and enemy (because I grew up in the days of guardian monsters), plus how humans and aliens would be used.
  • Team Godzilla“> Yes, I’d write Godzilla the way I grew up with him, as a protector of the planet who started out as a threat. I also list the monsters I would put on his side against invaders and destructive monsters.
  • The Bad Guys“> The enemy monsters are whomever wasn’t on the last list. This final list looks more into the individual alien races the franchise has created and their battles with the guardians and each other for domination over the Earthlings.

How I’d Write (X)

For this one, I’m not saying my ideas will “save” or “fix” anything. This is more finding ways to take current bad ideas and make them work, bringing them back to the iconic without throwing everything out with reboots and retcons that just make matters worse and confuse the audience. Or using an overdose of certain characters and make them work…provided they don’t make any more when they don’t know what to do with what they have.

  • The Batman Family: “Assigning Bat-Roles“> For people who say there are too many members of the Batman Family, I find a role for each of them if DC would let them get along again.
  • Team Spidey: “How To Deploy The 616 Spider-Army“> I do agree that there are too many people with spider powers, but if they don’t make any more, here’s how I’d try to make them all work.
  • The “Rose Tyler Doctor”: A Way To Fix The “Rose Doctor”> Ending the possible last ever Doctor Who episode “The Reality War” with the fan-hated 15th Doctor with Billie Piper, part of Russell T. Davies obsession with Rose, was declared by a former writer as the death of the show because nobody would know what to do with her. I found a way off the top of my head to use it to fix the Doctor. Someday I may expand on that idea if I have the urge and time.

I hope to do more of these in the future.

My Transformers Universe

Originally planned as a one-shot article about a merged origin for the Transformers, my brain wanted to create an entire pre-war Cybertronian lore story. So I’ve made it into a series, but one that takes a while to put future installments out. The toys are the “source material”, but I do use other media to fill in blanks and form my own corner of the multiverse.

  • The Transformers’ Origin Story> The article that started it all. While I prefer the Quintesson origin of the show over Simon Furman’s Primus, the latter has become multiversal continuity. So I combined the two, along with elements of the Creation Matrix from Marvel, the protoforms, and even the All-Spark.
  • Essential Elements Of The Transformers> A sidebar, as I watch a compilation of previous Cybertronian life depictions on Chris McFeely’s Transformers: The Basics to figure out the elements I would base my continuity on.
  • How I’d Write Cybertronian Life> This is where it becomes an unofficial series, not yet using the name. It does debut a “chronicler” as he collects information on the early days of Cybertronian existence. This installment is an overview of how the species operates after the Quintessons were chased off of the planet

hopefully more to come
