The 80’s CBS cop drama Cagney & Lacey, is currently being rebooted. The pilot stars have been cast. The original series followed two lady detectives as they solved crimes in New York. It’s also where Martin Kove, from prior BW Video Review Hard Time On Planet Earth came from. The original series went through three different actresses playing officer Christine Cagney, Loretta Switt in the pilot and Meg Foster in early episodes, before casting the more well known portrayer, Sharon Gless. Her partner, Tyne Daly, was always Mary Beth Lacey, and went on to a co-starring role in the series Judging Amy as the mother of the title character, a Connecticut judge. (I only saw one episode). The show ran for seven seasons and four TV movies. Will the new series share that success? We’ll have to see what happens with the pilot first, won’t we?
This was supposed to post yesterday but I messed up the scheduling. And since I have a big discussion topic for what is now tomorrow we’ll have to save Atari Force for next week.
And you wouldn’t think that was possible. For all the crap that was going to go into Superman Lives and thank Rao that trainwreck was never made we dodged a second one. Superman Flyby was J.J. Abrams’ attempt to create a Superman movie showing that only Warner Brothers’ animation department seems to understand what makes a good Superman story, be it the movies for older audiences or younger. Owen Likes Comics goes into what would have gone into this failure of a Superman movie…that really should be retooled as an original work, which still puts it one over Lives but somehow under Man Of Steel, the failure to understand Superman we ended up with, and Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which messed up pretty much everything.

Sure humans can marry Vulcans or elves…maybe it’s the ears?…but at some point you wonder how far can relationships between humans and non-humans go? Even non-erotic images have humans and catgirls of various degrees of anthropomorphism together for example. When is it just another interspecies romance and when is it bestiality? Here in the real world we can’t even get people of a different skin color together without commenting on it, often negatively. It’s a question writer James Harrington is asking for himself. Answer in his comments because he won’t see them here and I’m following the comments so I’ll see them there. I’d rather the discussion take place in his thread since it’s his question.

Untrue story: The Wrecking Crew tried starting their own home improvement business but never got past the demolition stage.

I don’t really handle a lot of controversies here at BW Media Spotlight but since I’ve gotten a bit more creation-minded lately this is something I wanted to comment on. After all, the point of these reviews and commentaries is to make myself a better storyteller as well as draw a potential audience to my work. (Like my opinions on this or that? Maybe you’ll like my stories.) There will be an important disclaimer after the video so keep that in mind.
Said video comes from YouTube comics commentator “Just Some Guy“. I’m not a regular follower, partly because I have trouble keeping up with all the YouTube channels I watch now as it is. I do catch his videos now and then however, and this one grabbed my attention not only because of the topic but because an online acquaintance of mine is mentioned in the video. Apparently a comment by Erik Larsen on Twitter about whether or not comic creators should listen to the audience sparked a reaction in Mr. Guy. (I’m not on a first name basis so I can’t call him “Just”. Unrelated: The internet has weird names–said the guy named ShadowWing Tronix.) I’ll post the video for context (note that there is some cursing) and my own thoughts on the debate. Because I kind of agree with everybody on this one.
