So, did you guess Fizzbin‘s gender? I’m not sure it’s a big deal, but I figured I’d make it official. Actually, I had planned at the last minute to use her in a Halloween-centered strip, but I didn’t have time to get to it and to be honest I found the joke kind of lame. I may use it next year if I remember. And I don’t lose it.
A busy weekend, and I’d like to empty out my newsletters soon. I do have a few more recent stories to throw in, though.
comics
- BW Fave Jerzy Drozd has made available a free downloadable copy of his big comic, The Front available on Issuu.com. Of course you could just read it at his website as well as two different spin-off comics featuring break-out character Jared the yeti. Or even get a hard-copy.
- You have to be Chris Sims to know all 14 things about Batman you didn’t know.
television/movies
- If you’re like me and missed out on seeing the sci-fi classic Metropolis (no Superman connection), it’s coming out on blu-ray. I don’t have blu-ray but I do have Turner Classic Movies who will air the restored film on November 7th. (tip from DigiRanma at the That Guy With The Glasses forum)
- Mr. T discusses why he turned down a cameo appearance in the recent The A-Team movie.
- Chris Sims takes on an anime based on Marvel’s rendition of Tomb of Dracula.
video games
- Do you want a career reviewing video games? The Channel Awesome crew is looking for people to help make their upcoming Blistered Thumbs site a success. Also, the launch date has been announced, November 5th, 2010.
- Remember the fantastic Mega Man fanfilm I reviewed some time ago? Well, director Eddie Lebron has formally announced his next project: Sonic The Hedgehog! The big news, however, is who will be voicing the character: former voice of Sonic Jaleel White!
- G4’s Adam Sessler discusses open world games and two such games opening so close to each other.
in other news
- Two Halloween costume related pieces. First, Comics Alliance looks at the weirdest “sexy version” costumes (and suggests a few of their own). Then BW Fave the Game Overthinker has found an awesome family project involving creating a Metroid armor costume for one of the kids. My parents and I had a couple of those when I was a kid.
- The Clutter Report: Actually, I didn’t have time to finish the DC Action Figure review set either. I’m promising that for next week, but instead I have a repost of a Scanning My Collection article from this site in order to get a comic review up there. It’s my favorite crossover comic, Spider-Man & Batman, and something that won’t be touched come purge time. So if you haven’t read it here, read it there.
- This Week’s Cracked: 5 Cheap Tricks TV Shows Use To Keep You Watching ain’t no fool. From cop-out cliffhangers to exposing the fraud of reality shows, my only disagreement is that I thought the Star Trek cliffhanger worked quite well. You knew Picard was going to survive because nobody took Patrick Stewart’s name out, but you wondered how the situation was going to be resolved. It didn’t feel like a cheap cop-out to me. Also, comics are the worst abusers of #2, followed behind by soap operas. But #1? That bugs me, too.

Transformers: Drift #4
Tomorrow’s Comic> Batman: The Brave & The Bold #22

That’s awesome that Jaleel White is gonna reprise his role as Sonic. He did a great job voicing him.
Also, Happy Halloween! 🙂
I took the liberty of giving Corkey, Gizmo and Joy some cute Halloween costumes. Check em out:

I’m not sure about the witches costume, what with the usual Christian concerns about witches and Halloween in general, but I do like FrankenGizmo. 🙂

Don’t worry, Joy’s not a witch in Trouble Shooter. lol She picked the costume because she was curious and she liked pink. 😉
