Somewhere off-screen Picard is going “Thank goodness it wasn’t me!”.

“Lwaxana Troi And The Wedding Of Doom”

WRITERS; Michael Martin & Andy Mangilla

PENCILER: Terry Pallot

INKER: AL Milgrom

COLORIST: John Kalisz

LETTERER: Chris Eliopoulos

EDITOR: Tim Tuohy

Deanna Troi’s mother is getting married…yes, again. However, she’ll have to divorce Odo first, who married her to protect her son but is secretly wondering if he even wants a divorce. Her new fiancé’s assistant isn’t happy about this marriage but that may be the least of her problems when a strange substance Rom noticed on their ship turns out to be a goopy organism that captures her, a female technician, and is coming for Rom’s own fiancé, Leeta.

What they got right: I don’t think the show had any plans to check back in on Lwaxana and Odo’s marriage situation so it’s a good story to approach, as well as Odo’s actual feelings towards her. The threat of the story is a good one, though I suspect not having read this story in some time that it’s snagging females particularly and for a reason.

What they got wrong: Can we stop doing “have I read Shakespeare in the original (insert alien race of the person making the comment)” thing? It was mildly amusing in Star Trek IV but it doesn’t have to be done every time a new race is asked about old Billy S.

What did I think overall: A good start to the story and hopefully it has a strong finish as well.
