Catch more of Death Battle on YouTube
For those of you coming for the Chapter By Chapter review I’m moving it to tomorrow. This is breaking news and while slightly off-topic for this site I still find it interesting enough that something should be said.
So as you can tell from the above tweet, Comcast has decided to end it’s nearly year-long experiment with the revival of G4. Thanks to Deadline Hollywood posting an acquired memo before it could reach all of the staff because getting that scoop is more important than compassion for all the people about to lose their jobs, some of the staff and talent saw the article before the memo hit their email or was handed to them at the start of their work day. I saw a tweet from one guy who was flying home for his father’s funeral when this hit social media. So I’m not linking to it or the Variety article that came out at the same time because screw you, scoop hunters with no compassion for the people whose lives were just damaged if not ruined by how this news was release. It wasn’t even G4’s fault that this leak occurred and it was a jerk move not to wait at least until work day Monday.
You know what WAS G4’s fault though? The reason it ended. No, not necessarily “that rant”, though to say it didn’t play a part would be incorrect. However, it wasn’t the rant itself that ruined G4 but the aftermath that opened eyes to the current state of the channel. For context I already wrote an article when it was announced asking if we need another G4 and one after the Frosk rant was dissected by Midnight’s Edge and again after the response by G4. Check those out because I’ll be referring to stuff in minor detail that I went over in greater detail there. (In fact the rant aftermath post got a lot of hits in the stats after the news dropped.) This is sort of a wrap-up of events…because G4 is wrapping up.

You can get the book here. It’s a bit dark and violent for me personally (plus it follows an unapologetic villain) but as a fan of the Literature Devil I want to help see his work successful. It does look like a fun book and some of you kids may like it (just don’t give it to YOUR kids). You can back the Indiegogo here.

And don’t think I missed the lack of capes in these new costumes. Can you really not think of anything better than a jacket?
Fun fact: Tom Taylor is fun to draw. Wish I thought the same about his superhero stories.
Over at The Clutter Reports this week I posted an old Scanning My Collection article about the Transformers UK comic magazine because the project for this week was a bust.
So I guess we’ll have to talk about the latest Superman news, given that they continue to ruin my favorite superhero and of course I’m going to call DC out on it. I don’t even hate the Supertwins (because I haven’t seen them in action yet) but it is tied to the continuing failure of treating their former flagship character and icon to many, many children around the world. Of course that’s working around the latest Chapter By Chapter review installment for Tekwar and the Many, MANY Intros Of Scooby-Doo bidding farewell to ABC and hello to Kids WB if time allows. That depends on what other stupid thing happens in Hollywood this week. Have a great one, folks!

In the circles I end up with this may be heretical but I was never into Phineas And Ferb. On the odd chance you haven’t heard of it, the show follows two stepbrothers, guess their names, as they try to squeeze as much fun as they can into the summer before school starts. That usually involves some wild gadget or setup that concerns Phineas’ biological sister Candiace who tries to bust her brothers for their own good but the problem solves itself before getting the chance. That solution usually comes in the form of the show’s subplot, where their pet platypus Perry is secretly Secret Agent P, charged with stopping manchild mad scientist Doctor Doofenshmirtz from taking over the tri-state area or getting revenge on his more successful brother…though as the show goes on you kind of see Doof’s reasoning for wanting revenge. Instead he becomes Professor Time, the creator of time travel, on previous Saturday Night Showcase entry Milo Murphy’s Law, a show set in the same universe that is one of my favorite shows, even the crossover with this one. (Fun fact: this show is apparently so popular that spell check knew how to spell “Doofenshmirtz”. Saved me from looking it up.)
With Disney XD’s official YouTube channel posting episodes of Phineas And Ferb I get to bring you the one episode I do enjoy. True, a Star Wars special is nothing new. Robot Chicken did it. Family Guy did it. The Muppets did it…twice if you count the “Pigs In Space” crossover and three if you add in a Muppet Magazine comic alongside the original Muppet Babies. However, this one takes a different turn from the Family Guy episode. Instead of playing the characters from A New Hope, Phineas, Ferb, Candice, and their friends take part in a side story that may not be canon…but does fill in a few gaps. Although they’re still harping on the exhaust port. Exactly how are they supposed to vent their exhaust if the thing is closed? It’s big as a moon with a planet-destroying supercannon on the front. Those things heat up you know. So let’s watch as the gang create their own Star Wars musical. It will be better than anything DisneyFilm will come up with if they ever try it.
