BW’s Daily Video: The Latest On G4’s Latest Drama

Catch more from Midnight’s Edge on YouTube

Normally I don’t bother with this stuff. I’d rather look at a good or bad story and go over why it’s good or bad. However, I think there’s something here that isn’t bring brought up, so we’ll talk about in tonight’s feature article.

Chapter By Chapter> Robotech: Before The Invid Storm chapter 6

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

In the last chapter of Robotech: Dana and Louie met with Dana’s old friend Terry Weston, and the trio tried to convince the Shimada family to aid in the defense of the coming Invid invasion, but they opted to do something stupid instead and try to befriend them. Of all the aliens who have invaded Earth in this franchise the Invid are probably the least likely to work out a deal so clearly this gambit would end in failure even you haven’t seen the show prior to this.

Now our heroes must find a new way to protect the Earth. With the Zentraedi returning there may be a chance to stop the Invid before the invasion begins. Let’s see more of the events leading to when they failed.

BW’s Daily Video: Bringing The Rain To Kapiti Plain

From an episode of Reading Rainbow:

Jake & Leon #521: We’ve All Had One

We’ve all had that kind of week. I’ve had a few. In a row.

And it looks like the start of the week is going to be leftovers from last week, but hopefully the distractions will be all done and I can focus on…anything else would be nice.

Over at The Clutter Reports this week I didn’t go for a pity Transformer for my troubles but a chiwawa in a flying mech suit with guns. It’s Churro and his FD-O from the Final Faction toyline. It’s the only thing in the line I’m interested in besides the flight gear accessory pack I picked up, though outfitting it with other things in the future is a possibility.

I don’t think the distractions should have a huge influence on my schedule this week but I’ve been wrong and disappointed and royally ticked before. We’ll still continue the Chapter By Chapter review of Robotech: Before The Invid Storm and the usual comic reviews but I don’t know what I’ll be up for the rest of the week. Every time I announce something there’s a problem getting in the way so until life stops punching me in the privates I can only promise something interesting this week…if I don’t get sick. Have a good week and I’ll do what I can.

Saturday Night Showcase> Rifftrax: Attack From Space

Super Giant is a series of short films about the titular hero protecting Japan from alien invasion. These were compiled into a series of movies in the US, the third of which is Attack From Space. Renamed “Starman” (not to be confused with the DC comics hero or the Mega Man video game villain–or the NES Pro Wrestling playable character), our heroes adventures are just campy and poorly dubbed enough that Rifftrax just had to make fun of it.

With the movie in public domain, the riff by former Mystery Science Theater 3000 veterans Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett can be posted on YouTube and thus we get to have something a bit more fun tonight. There’s not much to say (outside of the actor playing Super Giant/Starman, Ken Utsui, hated that they padded his crotch…for the ladies and the costume was thus uncomfortable) so pardon the short intro as we get right into the movie. Enjoy.
