BW’s Morning Article Link: The History Of Captain Pollution

I have a lot of problems with Captain Planet & The Planeteers, but I also need an article link. Most superheroes end up with an “opposite number” at some point. Some last and become popular like Venom, Black Adam, or Bizarro. But then you have the ones nobody remembers, like the Owlman that isn’t from Watchmen. The “evil twin” was a trope even Captain Planet couldn’t escape. Dinosaur Dracula chronicles the brief and surprisingly dark life and death of Captain Pollution.

Today’s Comic> Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #83

This time we’re so close to when the comic came out that I’m not really going to spoil much of anything, or try not to. I know did with the MASK and Robotech comics, but if I was going to explain my problem with them as nostalgic properties(or rather not-stalgic in MASK‘s case, at least Robotech got that part right…more or less, the less being why I lost interest) I kind of had to. This comic has continued for 83 plus + issues (including crossovers and spin-off mini and ongoing series) so at this point it’s solidifies its own continuity. Plus it’s the same writing team as it had when I stopped being able to get these on my own, so I already know the work is good.

When we last left our shell-backed shadow warriors they had traveled to another dimension hoping to figure out what the Rat King was planning, while we readers knew just what he was doing…preparing to drown the orphaned children of New York, some of whom lost their parents after anthropomorphic alien triceratops (I’m not sure what the plural of that is) invaded the planet. It’s nice to see comics that are still weird but fun are hitting store shelves considering the current state of things.

Someone just heard about the live-action Dumbo remake and he doesn’t look happy about it.

BW’s Morning Article Link: The Problem With Rose Tico

Look, I don’t want to come off as picking on The Last Jedi or Rose Tico. I liked the movie when I watched it and the character had potential. Sadly she never actually reached that potential as the writer of this commentary points out. Of all the female characters who belong part of the Forces Of Destiny project she is not one of them.

It could have been worse though. She could have been Rose Tyler.

The He-Man Newspaper Comics: It’ll Be A Cold Day

In our last story we met Princess Benura of the Northern Isles. The comic strips were pretty good as introducing someone in one strip and having them be important in the next one, or introducing a situation that would be part of a future storyline. This story finds our heroes traveling to the Northern Isles to help with a crisis situation, but will lead to another adventure…and a question being popped.

For those of us looking down the barrel of Summer’s rifle we might be wanting a bit of colder weather, but this is going to be way too much.
