BW V-Log: Hello 2018

BW’s Morning Article Link: From Turtle Voice To Turtle Director

Rob Paulsen has done voice work for two of the three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, voicing Raphael in the original and Donatello in the recent remake. But in Nickelodeon’s newest incarnation (no, I don’t buy their reasoning for rebooting again…a rant for another time) Paulsen isn’t voicing the Turtles but will be stepping into the voice director role in Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I’ve seen at least two Transformers voice actors turn to directing Transformers shows and did pretty well, so hopefully this will work out too. As he notes in this interview, directing is a lot different from performing.

Jake & Leon: Fizzbin & Beth’s Christmas Adventure finale

Of course I’m going to end this happily.

At least I got one comic done. Yes, this year’s Captain Yuletide will show up next year, but hopefully this week. All my attention got taken over by the Comic Re-Integration Project since I needed to clean up the clutter that was making (irony) and afterwards I was really tired. If you want to see my progress:

  • Day 1: I begin the project, got two boxes done.
  • Day 2: I remember my back brace. Got up to the “D”s.
  • Day 3: Got slowed down finding a bunch of comics that weren’t marked for easy locating.
  • Day 4: Turns out my collection was in a bigger mess than I thought as I found comics in letters I already sorted!
  • Day 5: Simple sorting. After the day before, it was a relief.

I have more to do, but it’s going to be a weekly project so I can (hopefully) finish Captain Yuletide and some other projects. Throw in a dental appointment and shopping and I don’t think I’m going to have any comic reviews this week, although I am going to try to review one comic. I found the last issue of The Real Adventures Of Jonny Quest hiding in the day 4 set so I can finish off that series. I also know what my next two Wednesday series reviews are going to be. The first one is another series I have to finish. When I started the site I was in the middle of a few series, including the comic adaptation of Sonic X, which I remember not enjoy much and plan to expel from the collection. First I have to review it. I’ll save the next series for a surprise.

Meanwhile, I plan to have regular articles, including the Trope Shark article I mentioned last week. I’ll be un-stickying the Yule Log until next Christmas because tomorrow starts 2018, which hopefully will be better than 2017. No illness, no hospital stays, all recovered, and with luck finding a job or BW adding some form of income. I just hit 100 subscribers on YouTube and I’ll post a video for that tomorrow. That means the next installment of the Chapter By Chapter review of the Fantastic Voyage novelization will be Tuesday. Hope you all have a happy New Year!

Saturday Night Showcase: The House Of Shokoti

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

There is only one two-part episode of He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe, “The House Of Shokoti”. However, it wasn’t intended to be a two-parter. According to interviews on my DVD collection of the first season it was just one episode, but it was too long for one episode and they couldn’t cut out anything, so they went with more than one part. However, it wasn’t long enough for two episodes on it’s own, so they padded out the story, adding the character Masque to create a shorter story.

The episode also introduces royal archaeologist Melaktha and his young assistant Stanlan, who would show up again in a later episode. I do wonder how different the story would have been has they not padded out the story? Also, no spoilers as to whom stops Masque in part one.

Friday Night Fights: The Thanksgiving Turkey’s Failed Revenge

For those of you who only come for the Friday Night Fight I haven’t been comic reviews this week because I’ve been trying to further organize my crazy comic collection. I have comics here, there, over there, some over there, some in here…it’s a total mess! Even my comic review order turns out to be messed up thanks to this collection, but I’m discussing that over at my other website, The Clutter Reports. (Link in the footer.) This means I just grabbed the nearest comic I thought would have a fight and took what I could get.

What I got was an anthropomorphic Marvel Universe featuring a less obnoxious Spider-Ham than main Marvel readers have been exposed to. His opponent? The Hobgobbler, who has kidnapped music and variety show star Barbara Mandrill. Don’t worry, that’s all the crazy we’ve got today. My brain is rather tired.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Micronauts Gets A Cartoon

Micronauts (comics)

I didn’t collect the Micronauts toys back in the day, nor have I read any of the comics from Marvel or those who picked up the series afterwards. I do have a fansub of the first few episodes of the Microman anime. (Microman is the Japanese toyline that Micronauts came from…a decade or more before the anime came out.) But I know some of you out there might have, so you’ll like to hear that an animated Micronauts animated series (not the anime officially released in the US but an original series) is currently being shopped plus a movie (I’m assuming live-action) from Paramount is in the works from Hasbro’s movie division, Allspark Pictures. My advice to Hasbro: DON’T go with Cartoon Network! Look how they mistreated Transformers: Robots In Disguise!

Kermit The Frog’s TED Talk On Creativity

I had planned a Trope Shark article for tonight but the comic organizing project is taking a lot out of me. I am sore, and really tired. Lucky for me I caught something on Tumblr that is going to more than make up for it.

At a TEDx Talk from 2014 (posted to YouTube in 2015), Kermit The Frog did a talk about creativity, how we all need it whether we’re in the arts or not, the necessity of creativity, and how the best way to be creative is to be a child. Never has a puppet been more profound. Enjoy!
