Chapter By Chapter: The Death And Life Of Superman ch. 26

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

We’re close to the end now; 26th out of 29 chapters. While the action in Coast City (or the crater that was Coast City) Superman is heading home, which means Metropolis. We have to gather the rest of the team for the big finale in Engine City (formerly the crater that was Coast City), and since Metropolis is the next target anyway maybe it’s a good thing he does. But Man Of Steel and Supergirl are the only ones not getting to play right now. Unless you count the Eradicator, who may never play again. Superboy is playing a game he’d rather not, and the Cyborg is playing a game we wish he wasn’t.

So far I’m enjoying the build-up. The villains have made their big move (without the actual hero of the city but I digress) and now it’s time for the heroes to make theirs. I don’t expect that to happen in this chapter, but we should be getting ready soon.

BW’s Morning Video Link: I’ll Take Wedding Proposals for 200, Alex

It’s what I had to use, folks.

I always like fun marriage proposals, so here’s one to start off the week. On Jeopardy contestants are supposed to ask the question. But on a recent episode one took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend. Not the question they meant but it worked.

Jake & Leon #378: Finally Back

I’m just hoping I haven’t jinxed myself.

My photo editing software won’t work on my dad’s computer and I don’t want to load it with all my programs, so I don’t have Clip Studio Paint and the graphics tablet drivers on there. So even if I made a comic last week on paper I couldn’t color and letter it. But now I have both my computers back (haven’t messed with the laptop because I just got it back a few minutes ago) and I was able to get this week’s comic made. BW is back in full operation but now I have to do all the stuff I wanted to do over the break while still making content anyway. Because life hates me and wants me to fail. At least I did one of those projects for The Clutter Reports.

At any rate I’m not sure what articles are coming this week. Maybe Free Comic Inside, maybe Finally Watched, there’s a commentary building off of someone else’s video I’m pretty sure I’m going to do but I’ve got a full week of non-BW stuff so we’ll have to see what happens. In the comic reviews the only change is in the Transformers. Before I get to the review of the first live-action movie adaptation we have Saga Of The All-Spark, a reprinting of the UK prequel comics.

So we’re back in business, kids. Let’s see what we can create. Or what will be destroyed next.

Saturday Night Showcase: Transformers Cyberverse part 2

In a previous Showcase we looked at the first two episodes of Transformers Cyberverse, the latest Transformers cartoon. I had my problems with it, but hoped for the best. I’m still hoping.

Hasbro has released two more episodes, but they missed one, the episode where Bumblebee and Windblade steal the Decepticon ship, which will be their base and how they will continue to access Bumblebee’s lost memories. It’s part two of “Memories”, the second episode, and Cartoon Network has it on their website, at least as of this writing. (Thanks to BWTF.com for that link.) The next two episodes are up on YouTube so let’s take a look.

Star Trek: The Next Story Bible–The Starship

The next section we’ll be looking at in the Writers/Directors Guide continues the changes between TOS and TNG. This time the focus is on the ship itself and the gear involved. It’s broken into two subsections: A New Look (the fashion side) and Standing Sets (the typical rooms in the ship we’d be seeing). Last week’s look at The Bridge was also part of this section, dubbed “The Starship Enterprise” in the guide, but I felt it deserved its own article  just like the final subsection on Community and Family life, which we’ll see next time. These two are both grouped as “The Starship” (which I’m mostly going along with because I don’t have much to say about the sets) but A New Look and Standing Sets are the two middle subsections.

The ultimate point of the Starship section is to give the writers and directors a better understanding of the scenery they’ll be writing around. Character actions will be in part influenced by the environment around them, even if they’re inside a ship. Some of this I may skip over since it isn’t as interesting and we already know what the various parts of the ship look like since it’s no longer pre-season 1. This is more about comparing what was planned to what actually happened in the show.
