Jake & Leon #377: Still Breaking

And it took him a week to realize this.

I’ve got so much to do this week that I won’t be able to do much BW work this week. This isn’t why I suggested I might have two weeks off, but it does include a job interview. Wish me luck! There’s also two family events and monthly grocery shopping plus who knows what else. Depending on what happens with the interview I should be back to full speed next week.

Meanwhile, I did do some work on the back-up drive in this week’s Clutter Report. So that’s something to check out, even though it’s short. We’ll be returning with more Death & Return Of Superman, my thoughts on Transformers Cyberverse (episodes available on Cartoon Network’s website and more on demand if you have cable), more He-Man newspaper strips, and some Star Trek stuff, including more from the TNG writer’s guide. I also have the next few Saturday Night Showcases chosen. Just bear with me another week, and again I apologize to the new subscribers (I even picked up another one) as well as the rest of you. We will be back soon.

Jake & Leon #376: Break

If you follow the panels backwards you see my creation process.

My apologies to my readers, especially the two who just subscribed today (hello!), but I need to take a week or two to take care of other things. I have unrelated projects that have been ignored, and some of the important, plus I need to find a job or some other source of legal and moral financial income since the Patreon is still empty, YouTube still hasn’t restored my monetization (I’m still not popular enough), and my retired father shouldn’t have to pay my way, should he? I haven’t wanted to stop doing BW work since I missed so much of 2016 due to my medical issues but it has to be done. I thought I could do both but my messed-up sleep cycle has interfered with that and that’s another thing I’m hoping to deal with.

I WILL RETURN, hopefully in a week but two weeks at the latest because The Death & Life Of Superman is almost done (if I thought I could wait a few weeks I would) and I’m still in the middle of the story bible for Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Iron Man/Fantastic Four crossover, and the Fourth Doctor fighting space werewolves sent by the Daleks. It may not be the best time to take even one week off, which is what I’m shooting for, but some things take priority over a blog I do and will continue to do for fun and skill samples/improvement that isn’t my job, as much as I wish it were.

Hopefully I’ll return with the completion of the Worldbuilding Project, some video content, more articles, a decent waking and sleeping cycle that will give me time to work on all my projects, and some way to pay my own way around here, which may or may not take time away from BW and clutter-clearing projects. I also want to redo the Patreon but we’ll see if that happens and if I can offer anything that will entice contributors. We’ll have to see but I have to do what I have to do. In the meantime I have close to 10 years (10 in November) worth of old content, most of which isn’t time-sensitive and worth checking out. See you in a week or two!

Saturday Night Showcase: Marvel Rising–Initiation

I want to test out an actual logo for Saturday Night Showcase. Under three titles this is the longest-lasting topic on this site and I never made a logo. I used an image generator and I kind of like it but I still want to go back and make it myself. Still, I’d like some feedback.

The font used is rather plain (probably on purpose) and I want a custom marquee but it’s a good test.

Meanwhile, Marvel Animation is doing a test of its own. Marvel Rising is taking some of the lesser known teen heroes (unless you count the fact that Ms. Marvel was actually in the recent Avengers cartoon) and giving them a chance to show off what they can do. Marvel HQ, one of their YouTube channels, posted a collection of the web-premiere shorts, “Initiation”, which introduces the heroes–Ms. Marvel, Ghost Spider, Squirrel Girl, Patriot, and Quake–and sets up the plot for the first storyline if not the first season. Let’s see how it holds up.

Star Trek: The Next Story Bible–Scripting: What Not To Do

Last week we saw what they wanted to see in a script for the show. We covered believablity before the days of technobabble. Now we’re at the part of the writer’s guide where potential contributors to Star Trek: The Next Generation season one were told what things they didn’t want to see in the series. These were things that “don’t work for us”. Let’s see how long it took before they changed their minds.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Big Bang Theory Reaching Final Season

The sad part is hasn’t met his new mechanic, either. I hear she’s a master.

Fans of The Big Bang Theory are sad by the news that season 12 will be the last season of the series. Those of you who hate the show as insulting to the geeks and nerds out there (it’s been referred to as “nerdface” by some), however, will be celebrating. Me, I watched a few episodes. Didn’t do anything for me.
