So many things to discuss, but so little time. I’ve seen things I want to discuss go by the wayside because I just didn’t get to it in a reasonable amount of time. Rather than let this continue, I’m just going to a little rapid fire. Here are some articles you should catch up on.

  • Bully the Little Stuffed Bull tries to put a fun spin on J. Jonah Jameson becoming mayor of New York in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. Bless his little stuffed heart. So leave it to Cup of Mud Joe to suck the fun back out.

JM: Well, regardless, question is: Is this something that was on the drawing board as soon as you started mapping out what was to happen in “Brand New Day,” or did it become part of the plan as you went along?

JQ: It wasn’t a Day One idea, but I’m pretty sure we did come up with that in the second Spider-Man retreat we had. It was very early on.
It was a little bit of a subject for debate, because one of our rules in the Marvel Universe it that it’s the real world, and that office is obviously not held by J. Jonah Jameson in the real world. But there were so many great and compelling reasons to have Jonah become the mayor, that we decided to go with it. And we really weren’t concerned with “Oh, let’s see his rise to political power and the campaign,” but we were well more concerned with all the fun we could have with “Wow. Just what he hell would this do to Peter Parker and Spider-Man?” Those particular points and story elements were just too compelling for us that we couldn’t not do it. That apple was just too juicy not to take a bite out of.

NO! This was a bad idea when DC made Lex Luthor President of the United States, it was a bad idea when they put Norman Osborn head of SHIELD-by-another-name, it was even a bad idea when Tony Stark was made Secretary of Defense, much less the Civil War aftermath. Again, what happened to those “better stories” I keep hearing about?

  • Transformer World 2005, a Transformers news site, reports that the Coda miniseries will now be issues 13-16 of the regular All Hail Megatron series. That’s too bad, as Coda was supposed to take place between AHM and the just-finished Maximum Dinobots. That’s going to play havoc with my “timeline” filing system.
  • Slay, Monstrobot of the Deep webmaster Snell voice some of the concerns I’ve had with the upcoming Star Trek prequel/reboot/whatever it ends up being. I’m still going to try to go into it with an open mind, however.
  • Voice Actors in the News alerted me to a Newsweek online interview with Dan Aykroyd concerning the upcoming Ghostbusters video game. All four Ghostbuster actors will be reprising their roles, if you haven’t heard. There’s also talk in there of a third movie. That and the entire “Real Ghostbusters” series being available on DVD made being a fan a good thing.
  • In other video game news: Mr. T and Will Wright fighting Nazis. What more needs to be said? Just read the article, and pray it comes out for your chosen system (PC for me, or Wii.).
  • Speed Force, an all-Flash blog, posts one member’s opinion about current events with Barry and Wally. Most notable, Kelson takes a look at the origin stories.
  • Finally, I forget where I first heard about this article, but could this be the model for the iconic Hall of Justice on the old Superfriends cartoon?

I think that’s enough for one post, but I’ll try and do some more before I lose them.
