On Wednesday, BW Fav Lewis “Linkara” Lovhaug sent out a message for a new artist for Revolution of the Mask, his downloadable webcomic about superheroes going up against a Big Brother future. (He hasn’t been able to make contact with previous artist Leonardo Freites in some time.) By Sunday, he had found his artist.
A perfect fit, don’t you think? 😀
Actually, I just needed something for the homepage teaser, and this isn’t the only style she works in.
The winning artist is Heather Nunnelly, who has been working putting together her own comic as well. Definitely not my “thing”, but I do have to admit that the picture she posted for Joyful Jenny, one of the characters from issue 2, looks pretty good and in line with the comic’s design. (Personally, I thought that Lewis Smith’s “Eight-Ball” was a better fit as it does match Freites’ style a bit more to my untrained eyes, but it’s Lewis’s preference that matters, not mine. It’s his comic. :D) According to Heather’s posting in the recruitment thread, she’s..
…a student attending School of Visual Arts, majoring in Cartooning, taught by some very talented comic book artists working in the field such as Klaus Janson, Joey Cavalieri, and Nelson Decastro. I’ve self published a mini comic by the name of “Before I Sleep” which has been sold at several stores in NYC. Also, I’ve taught comic books to a group of students for the past two summers.
Rather impressive credentials. I looked through her deviantART page, and she is a good artist (even in the creepy style up there, but also in other styles–I just think Lewis was won over by the Harley Quinn art, but don’t tell him I said that :P), so I congratulate her on getting the job, and will be looking forward to her work in issue #3 (as well as the issue itself) and beyond.
