Muppet Snow White #3

BOOM Kids! (June 2010)

WRITER: Jesse Blaze Snider with Patrick Storck
ARTIST: Selli Paroline
COLORIST: Braden Lamb
LETTERER: Deron Bennett
EDITOR: Aaron Sparrow
COVER ARTIST: David Petersen
DESIGNER: Erika Terriquez

At the club, Snow White attempts to stop Crazy Harry from blowing up the Seven Dwarfs (with Rizzo and the Editor noting that it should be “dwarves”, although my spell-check and the actual Brothers Grimm beg to differ). She fails, but the gang survive and change the band name to the Electric Mayhem. So it’s that time in the story when the wicked queen is supposed to slip Snow White the poison apple–until Piggy realizes this means Kermit will be kissing Spamela. So she tries to derail the story and when Spamela/Snow White gets the apple anyway she uses a dragon to kidnap Kermit.

What they got right: Yeah, I pretty much expect Piggy to pull a stunt like this. I also like how the writers take the time to explain the differences in the original story to the Disney version everyone seems to know. Seems the Queen actually gets a crueller fate than how she dies in the movie, too. Ouch.

What they got wrong: Nothing necessarily wrong for this parody.

Recommendation: At this point you’re probably better off getting the trade if you haven’t been collecting the mini-series. At least it’s worth a look. It’s not super-exciting, but it’s not too bad.

However, nothing really qualified for “Best Scene”, not even Miss Piggy using a dragon to kidnap Kermit, oddly enough.
