All-New Batman: The Brave & The Bold #6
DC Comics (June 2011)
WRITER: Sholly Fisch PENCILER: Rick Burchett INKER: Dan Davis COLORIST: Gabe Eltaeb LETTERER: Carlos M. Mangual ASSISTANT EDITOR: Chynna Clugston Flores EDITOR: Jim Chadwick
Fearing that he’s relying too much on his mental powers, the Martian Manhunter goes to Batman to help him polish his detective skills. To see him in action, J’onn will disguise himself and Batman has to figure out where he is. During the challenge, our heroes come across another shapeshifter, Clayface.
What they got right: I like seeing Batman stories that focus on his detective skills more than his fighting skills and cool gadgets. (Probably because of my first Batman comic, a detective story that didn’t involve the usual rogues gallery, but was just a murder mystery.) J’onn J’onzz is also supposed to be a detective, so seeing him embrace that side is good, too.
What they got wrong: Awesome as the cover is, it loses points for spoiling Clayface’s appearance in the story. It takes you away from the story when you’re wondering when he’s going to show up.
Recommendation: One of the best stories under this title. Fisch has been doing a good job as of late. He really has found his voice, and it says “buy this comic”. I agree.

It's not easy being green. But walking through walls is a synch.
