"Guys, I have an itch I can't reach."

Young Justice #4

DC Comics (July 2011)

WRITERS: Art Baltazar & Franco
ARTIST: Mike Norton
COLORIST: Zac Atkinson
LETTERER: Carlos M. Mangual
COVER: Mike Norton & Alex Sinclair
EDITORS: Jim Chadwick & Michael McCalister

Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad continue to battle Hook and Black Spider to protect their target. Unfortunately, the League of Shadows make sure even when heroes win, they lose. I really don’t want to spoil this ending.

What they got right: Batlazar, Franco, and Norton may well be the best team working at DC Comics (although I’m sure Landry Walker & Eric Jones would have given them a run for the crown were they still working on a DC project together like Batman: The Brave & The Bold or that full-series of Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures I keep asking for (plus a Moon Supergirl special). The twist ending is a surprise for a kid targeted comic (even older kids like this one) and it works well, considering it’s…darn, I don’t want to ruin it. It took guts for the target audience, though, while still remaining in the target age group.

What they got wrong: I’ve sat here for about five minutes coming up with even a minor complaint for this section. I came up empty.

Recommendation: I’m about ready to call this my favorite currently published superhero comic. Highly recommend this series.

I'd hate to him explaining that to his fellow assassins.
