Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were a reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

I should have gone ahead and read these two chapters yesterday. If I put the jump here, it’s just to avoid spoilers. I will say that there is nothing wrong with this section. It just would have been better to review with yesterday’s article.

Really, all I can say here is this is the fight to claim the Plasma Energy Chamber before the Decepticons. I’m not sure Prime made the right decision. Personally, I would have to say that taking a shot at the chamber, even if it was lost, might have been better than letting Megatron get away with it. If he and his forces are powerful enough to take down Omega Supreme, who sounds as powerful in this version as his counterparts and namesakes throughout the Transformers Multiverse, then letting them have the Chamber is probably a bad idea in the long-term.

If I were to register a complaint is that there are two lines that just felt forced; more of the fanwanking from earlier in the book. One is one of the infamous lines from the Prime/Megatron fight in Transformers: The Movie, “One shall stand, one shall fall.” I’m sorry, but between the Movieverse stories and Transformers Prime plus the opening to the game and various trailers I have heard that line so slagging often that the meaning of it and emotion has pretty much been drained. Now it’s just a line, there to make fans “oooh” and “aaaah”.

That line now has to be forced into every Optimus Prime/Megatron battle lately and I think I’ve had enough of it. You’re trying to make every one of those fights look as epic as this one. If every fight is epic it gets dull now and then. We all know this isn’t the final battle. Even in this continuity I still think they’re destined to head towards Earth. Go back to the “Liefeld’s Galactica” reviews. Making something look epic when it isn’t doesn’t work.

And so reading time comes to an end for now. How will the Autobots recover the chamber? Will Omega Supreme live? Hopefully we find out next time.
