Centurions #2

Doc Terror misuses his 3D printer to bootleg Centurion toys.

The Centurions #2

DC Comics (July, 1987)

“Seeing Is NOT Believing!”
WRITER: Bob Rozakis
ARTIST: Don Heck & Al Vey
COLORIST: Nansi Hollahan
LETTERER: Agustin Mas
EDITOR: Jonathan Peterson

Max, Ace, and Jake are interviewed about how they became Centurions. Naturally, Ace takes a liking to the lady reporter who isn’t what she seems and may be a threat to Skyvault.

What they got right: I give Rozakis credit for coming up with some good backstories for the Centurions and Doc Terror.

What they got wrong: Except that this isn’t the actual origin. This would be revealed near the end of the TV series’ run but this may have come out when the show was still a miniseries so I’ll give him a break. Still, it shows that you shouldn’t try to do what the TV show should be because you risk being proven wrong later. (See the DCAU tie-in comics.)

Recommendation: It’s a different origin, but one that appears to be thought out and a good story attached to it. Worth picking up.
