Or I'm not as good as I think. One of the two.

Or I’m not as good as I think. One of the two.

Jerzy Drozd and Rob Stenzinger of the Lean Into Artcast started this challenge for their listeners to do mini-podcasts about their work thoughts as cartoonists. The month is half-way over so I don’t know if I should bother, but listening to all these people think about their work has me thinking about one of my issues: self-promotion. I know I’m not a good cartoonist but everything else I do at the Spotlight and The Clutter Reports has gotten people’s attention. I even had three new followers to BW directly this week. I’m just trying to figure out how to get my work out there to more people. I don’t know if that will translate into Patreon supporters or enough people watching my videos that I can earn a living on them but I still feel kind of isolated all alone in this room for the past year. And that’s translated into filling out applications and for the first time in my life creating a resume.  I can talk about everything I enjoy…but I’m shy when it comes to talking about myself. It’s a bit harder now that RU is no longer open to me, since they did most of the “hey, look at this” work for me.

Speaking of The Clutter Reports, this week I made the mistake of spending money I don’t have to fill my obsession with Mini-Cons when I saw the Mini-Con Assault Team on clearance at a closing K-Mart. The comic that came with it will be reviewed in place of the current Transformers Thursday offerings to give myself a break from Furman’s disaster. I may not IDW’s direction with Transformers but it doesn’t make my brain numb. It just makes me kind of sad.

And no new comics again this week. I’m just going to stop noting that for awhile. While Today’s Comic has brought in readers what I need brought in is money. tough to drop $80 a month you don’t have. But there’s something else I’ll be doing this week of note.

We lost two parts of my childhood this week: the creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, R.A. Montgomery passed away. That was followed by Glen A. Larson. While I’m still deciding on a plan to celebrate the former, it’s the latter we’ll be focusing on this week, as for the “free posts” this week I will pay tribute to some of Larson’s creations besides Battlestar Galactica and Knight Rider, the two he’s more famous for and if you follow this site you’re probably someone already well aware of them. For the Friday Night Fight this week I’m going to go through my BSG comics and try to find a good one. Let’s honor another lost piece of my childhood.
