In 1989, Back To The Future: Part II hit theaters. The franchise has become a cult hit, spawning a Saturday morning cartoon, a ride at Universal Studios (the movie portion of which you can probably find), video games (for better or for worse), and comics, including a miniseries coming out now from IDW. In the movie Marty McFly and his girlfriend Jennifer Baines are brought by Doctor Emmett Brown to the far future of October 21. 2015 because somehow they can help get their future kids in order–somehow. In honor of that I should probably do something.
The problem is that while I’ve seen and enjoyed the first movie I was never really drawn into the franchise. I saw a few episodes of the cartoon, but all I’ve seen of the second film are the same clips everybody shows and almost nothing of the third movie. I’ve never really been drawn into it. Lucky for me the Fine Brothers are huge fans and decided to get the Martys and Jennifers of today, modern teens, to look at the vision of 2015 the film gave us and compare it to what we actually accomplished. Am I the only one happy we didn’t get flying cars? Image what happens when you have engine trouble or run out of gas?
Meanwhile the adults get to see one of those visions come to life…sort of.
So what’s your take on the future they “predicted” (they note in the first video that they didn’t TRY to predict anything and just came up with fun stuff) versus the October 21st, 2015 you just experienced?
