Shockwave punishes Starscream for spacing Megatron. He also tries to recruit Soundwave as his lieutenant but Starscream isn’t done scheming yet. Ultra Magnus’ crew forces Optimus to surrender, but he sends Jazz, Windcharger, Ratchet, Brawn, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Wheeljack to sneak out, leaving them on Earth. Grimlock has also gotten away and has found a ship and his fellow Dinobots. While some of Optimus’s fellow captive Autobots are starting to believe a united Cybertron finally exists Shockwave is ordering their execution.
What they got right: Give Optimus credit for planning ahead by sending a small party out to continue the fight. Starscream is in top form here as well.
What they got wrong: Okay, how did Megatron get his hands on the other Dinobots and keep them in a big container of that liquid stuff from The Empire Strikes Back and various other sci-fi tales? Will this be explained? I know Mick wants to undo Grimlock’s defection rather than explore the possibilities as Grimlock remembers why he joined against the Decepticons in the first place but a little missing history is needed here.
Recommendation: Pat Lee’s art is still questionable but Mick is doing a good job making up for it with a story worth checking out.
