I know politics have been part of comics, for good or not, since the guy above was fighting Hydra instead of praising him. I and most other readers, even Conservative ones, don’t have a problem with that. However, it’s the WAY these views are used that ruin the story. It’s not even the one-sided perspective. James Harrington explains better than I can.
I do have a good example. In one of Matt Fraction’s Iron Man stories (which I reviewed when it came out) he has his villain hired by a cigarette company to make their product more addictive, like this was being written by those Truth ad writers. He then berates and kills them as horrible monsters….DESPITE TURNING PEOPLE INTO LIVING BOMBS USING TECHNOLOGY STOLEN FROM TONY STARK! That still gets me. Oh, and read the comments to Harrington’s article as well. He (as St.Cyril) has an interesting conversation by poster “Woebegone But Hopeful”.
