Figure this one out. Disney/Marvel canceled the Dark Horse license (or didn’t renew it, whichever) so they could produce Star Wars comics in-house, right? So you would think that if someone was going to produce a series of Star Wars comics for kids it would be Marvel, right? WRONG! It’s IDW taking up the mantle by producing Star Wars Adventures. Marvel, you used to make TWO kids comics when you originally held the license, which was based on the cartoons at the time, but you still did it. Have you abandoned kids comics so much that a third party has to make your kids comics for you?

And for those of you who hate that “your” property is being marketed to kids, is the franchise supposed to die with you and never be mentioned again? Take your kid hatred and “everything for MEEEEEEEEEEEE” attitude elsewhere!

At least, it’s good to see that a kid friendly Star Wars comic is being produced. Marvel’s STAR did a great job with this in the 80s with Ewoks and Droids comics. It’s too bad that Dark Horse lost its Star Wars license. I was able to save some of my 90s Dark Horse Star Wars comics. I reread them in the winter of Dec. 2015 to March 2016, and I was very pleased with the artistry and story quality. You’re correct in that it’s odd how Marvel is doing Star Wars comics but lets IDW take up the task of producing the child friendly Star Wars comics.
