Hunter awakens on an operating table. Meanwhile, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jimmy, and Verity find the place the Ultralite metal was shipped to and the humans investigate. However, they somehow set off a booby trap. Back at the Russian border, the two human armies cease fire when they see airplanes being attacked by armed sports cars and some turning into robots. Hardhead and Hot Rod arrive to help capture the facsimile and Megatron himself enters the battle to take on Optimus Prime.
What they got right: Someone actually used Optimus’ other two components in the battle! That only happened a few times in the cartoon and this is the first time I remember seeing it in the comics. The battle is pretty cool and the others aren’t sitting on the sidelines. (Except for Bumblebee because once he got involved the fight would be over.)
What they got wrong: Why does Hot Rod have a Cybertronian mode, yet it isn’t the toy, which was a Cybertronian vehicle. Hardhead looks like his toy’s vehicle mode and that was Cybertronian.
Recommendation: Things are getting interesting (except for the Machination stuff, but only because I know where it’s going). This may be a miniseries to check out after all.
