For the past two years I’ve taken part in the Art Soundoff Challenge, a collaborative event created by Jerzy Drozd and Rob Stenzinger of the Lean Into Artcast, and founders of the comic teaching website Lean Into Art. Taking place every November, participants audio and v-log about their art day, things they’ve been thinking about with their various art and comic projects, and even respond to commentaries by other Art Soundoff participants. It’s always interesting to see what other creators are saying about comic creation and what I can learn or what I already know. And this year, in addition to usually being the only critic among my fellow creatives (which is my unique perspective–we all have one) I’ve just starting using a graphics tablet, which means learning more Clip Studio Paint features I didn’t use when I just colored and lettered comics and title cards with it (when I didn’t use Paint Shop Photo Pro for some projects that is).

Additionally, Jerzy and Rob have added a few features to the project. In tonight’s showcase (which I would have posted last week but I had a good lead-in to Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny and I wanted to use it) I bring you the announcement for this year’s Art Soundoff Challenge, just in case any of you new people are story and art creators and might want to join in.

If you’re curious about my previous ramblings, here are the 2015 and 2016 Art Soundoff playlists. I went with YouTube v-log style. I wish I knew how to set up those season lists like some other channels do. Anyone know how to do that? I can’t find any instructional videos, oddly enough, on YouTube.

The event starts Wednesday, November 1st, and like last year I’ll be putting the Morning Article Link on hiatus to have the Art Soundoff v-log, which all Patreon supporters will see the day before. And if anyone takes up my offer I’ll post that as a feature article the night after they post it. It’s only 10-15 minutes of your time, and if a good article comes my way I’ll still post it as a regular post, which will give me time to focus on job hunting, videos, and this year’s Captain Yuletide offering so that will be ready for Christmas day. Additionally, I’m really hoping I can bring back Re-Covered and Reconstruction Zone as well as a Captain PSA comic, giving me more discussion topics, but we’ll see how that goes. Hope some of you join in or at least enjoy our offerings. You can follow along with the Twitter hashtag #ArtSoundoff or checking out the official Twitter page. See you then. And before then because I still have other things to post. 🙂
