Superman and Action Comics #1000 is quite the conversation source lately. Now word is that a formerly lost Superman story will be part of the oversized issue. Sadly it isn’t “The K-Metal From Krypton”, the rejected Superman #8 that would have introduced what we know as Kryptonite years earlier and allowed Lois to learn Clark is Superman long before people started insisting it wasn’t a good identity. (If you haven’t heard of this story, the partly restored comic is a must-read for Superfans. I reviewed and linked to it here.) Instead, according to this article by ICv2’s Betsy Gomez, it’s a story Marv Wolfman found as a young man touring the place. (Or stole depending on your point of view.)
Frankly “Too Many Heroes” doesn’t look nearly as interesting as “The K-Metal From Krypton” and if DC were to restore that instead I would totally spend the money I don’t have to get that comic. Hopefully there will be enough sales from #1000 that we can keep Superman’s classic costume.
