Oh, right. We still have this storyline to finish. Furman has so many I lost track

Transformers: Maximum Dinobots #1

IDW Publishing (December, 2008)

WRITER: Simon Furman

ARTIST: Nick Roche

COLORIST: Josh Burcham

SELECTED COVER ART: Marcelo Matere & Priscilla Tramontano

LETTERER: Chris Mowry

EDITOR: Denton J. Tipton

Grimlock finds his old ship but the Machination are still after him. They teleport him right outside Skywatch’s secret base in Nevada just as they prepare the reprogrammed “Dynobots” to go after him. But Hot Rod has found their base and Sunstreaker & Hunter, searching for Sunstreaker’s real head, are also aware of the Dynobots. Whomever Grimlock called for help better hurry.

What they got right: I’m at least happy to see that Furman wrapped up all his loose ends while All Hail Megatron (I think this takes place just before that series) forms IDW’s new direction for the continuity.

What they got wrong: The fact that so many threads exists but at least they’re coming together. And my earlier complaints like ruining the Headmaster concept so we can’t get a return to that, which has further been mixed up thanks to the “Titanmasters” of the Prime Wars Trilogy, and all the shadow groups.

Recommendation: It’s a fair enough start to the end of Furman’s take on the IDW Transformers, but how good it is I’ll have to wait on to see.
