The last two days have kept me rather busy and tomorrow should be the same. So I didn’t have time for a proper article this week. Luckily someone has unwittingly helped me in my quest to prove that “realism” in superhero stories isn’t really what “they” think it is.
There is one member of the Game Theorists (as in people who have past or present contributed to the Game Theorists YouTube channel) that I haven’t really spotlighted before. Austin (who has his own channel with other gaming content if you’re curious) hosts The Science Of…, a show that uses science and math to demonstrate that real world physics and video game physics are very far apart. In this episode He looks at the surprise hit Spider-Man game that’s exclusive to the Playstation 4 (so I have no way of playing it even if I could afford it) and shows that Spidey’s powers, at least as depicted in that game, look real cool but realistically makes him more dangerous than The Punisher.
