Using the stolen technology, the Mirror Enterprise crew manages to send their ship into the Federation’s universe to plunder it for the Empire. The mystery surrounding what’s happened to the regular universe crew works in Mirror Kirk’s favor as he lures one ship into a trap but it manages to call for help while the Mirrors attempt to hack a Starbase’s computer. The Excelsior is the one who receives the call as it brings the regular crew back to Earth for punishment and Captain Styles is more than happy to get on Kirk’s case, to the annoyance of the rest of the gang. Styles believing having the superior ship to be enough is surprised when Mirror Kirk comes up with a plan that disables the Excelsior and allows the Mirrors to invade.

What they got right: We never really got to know Mirror Kirk so seeing the differences and similarities between the two Kirks should be interesting. We also get a brief appearance of Bearclaw, Konom, and Bryce, who were Barr’s original characters and hopefully will get to be part of the story as I kind of like them.

What they got wrong: There used to be more variety to the Mirror Universe uniforms beyond replacing the Starfleet symbol (formerly just the Enterprise symbol) with the dagger symbol of the Empire. Not really so much here.

Recommendation: I’m seeing a lot of good ideas but we have no real clue to the execution just yet. Recommended for the curiosity until we get further into this storyline.
