Every Christmas I like to take some time to find some really cool Christmas displays. This year is no different but I opted to focus on projection displays. This is when a projected movie is mapped to a building, sometimes a home and sometimes a popular landmark, for an amazing show. So let’s just check out what I stumbled across this year.
Let’s start with a short one from Athens, Greece.
Here’s one a guy did on the side of his house.
This one tied in the projection with actual lights. Proceeds go to a homeless shelter in Tracy, California. Check the actual post’s description to see where to go to see it the whole thing live.
Here’s a time travel journey shown on the town hall of Geelong, Australia
Even Hogwarts gets into the spirit…at least at Universal Studios Hollywood.
This is all I had time to check out this year but you can easily find these and other Christmas displays on YouTube. Don’t think of it as showing off something you can’t do, but instead focus on the festive magic. Some of these were on people’s houses and with improvements in technology someday it might easy for all of us to make displays like this. It just takes a bit of creativity…and the ability to pay the electric bill in January.
