I get more and more over celebrities every time they speak. During the pandemic they didn’t want to risk not being heard despite the press handing on their every tweet and Instagram post while they ride out the lockdowns from one of their many large estates full of distractions most people don’t have, so they started making podcasts. Podcasting predates the very term now used to describe it and it’s already a hard format to get found on given that there are already so many podcasts on so many subjects. Now throw in people who have convinced others that they’re the only voice worth caring about in their limited time to listen to such things and it gets even harder. See also celebs making their own YouTube channels because their fragile little egos can’t handle someone else being popular that isn’t part of the Hollywood community.
So how is this affecting new people with new podcast voices and are any of these celebrity podcasts any good? The Guardian looks into the trend and the impact on the podcasting community and business.
