On Memorial Day we honor those who gave their lives so we can live free. On Veteran’s Day we celebrate those who risked their lives for the same goal but were able to come home to their families. I’m always happy when someone seen my Dad’s Vietnam era hat (he served during the war but because my uncles were fighting overseas the Sullivan Rule kept him at a base in the US, the same one where The Green Berets was filmed) and thanks him for his service. I never served and I’m not sure I could when I was healthier, but I have nothing but the greatest respect for our soldiers for what they do and their families who stand by them.
I hope you had a happy and safe Veteran’s Day, and remembered those who fought over there to keep us safe over here. They deserve a lot more respect and compassion than they deserve. We get to live a better life because of them and they should get to share in that life.
