The Away Team meets with an alien who uses a portal device to steal from other worlds. He was the one who set up drones to protect his stash and operation. While he tricks the Away Team the crew has to deal with a fire in engineering as they continue to use the gravity generators to help raise the ship…right into the drone path.
What they got right: I’m trying to decide if this new enemy adds to the story or not. Maybe in the next issue I’ll have an answer. On a technical level the story is fine.
What they got wrong: I don’t know if Torres has an independent streak in this story or just hates Seven Of Nine that much (and she seems willing to treat her as incompetent) but it’s getting annoying. At least I have the benefit of reading storied in between issues to cope with that.
What I think overall: The story is okay as a miniseries but this particular issue just didn’t do a lot for me. Kind of like the cover.
